Water Crystals: Super Absorbent Polymer for Plants
We offer specialty polymers specifically designed to improve the ability of soils to hold water and plant nutrients in horticultural applications. Upon contact with water, the polymer crystals swell, absorbing hundreds of times their weight.
When added to the soil, plant roots grow around and through the swollen polymer “crystals”, where they are able to extract the stored water and nutrients. The controlled release of water and nutrients aids plants in achieving optimal moisture conditions for maximum plant growth.
How is much is needed?
- Seeding/Sodding: Before planting or laying sod, work crystals 5-6 inches into the soil at a rate of 5 pounds per 1,000 square feet.
- Bedding Plants: Mix crystals into the top 3-6 inches of soil at a rate of 3-6 pounds per 100 square feet.
- Root Dip: Mix 1 teaspoon root dip per quart of water to make a slurry. Dip roots into solution.

Hydro Mulching
