polymerSNOW

About

This special and amazing version of a super absorbent polymer expands 4-5 times in volume when exposed to water and looks just like real snow! It is safe, non-toxic and can be regenerated over and over again. Once it starts to dry out, simply spray water on with a mister bottle and the “Snow” will grow again and again!

This specialty polymer was originally developed in the 1980’s for disposable hygiene applications like baby diapers and feminine hygiene products. The product is made of the same type of polymers commonly found in disposable diapers, but polymerSNOW uses a special surface cross-linking system that causes the product to expand when in contact with water resulting in instant artificial snow. It gets fluffy and really does look like snow!

The snow making machines that you see on ski slopes are very expensive, require lots of water and work only at cold/below freezing temperatures.

There are also ice-making companies that will provide “real snow.” This material is expensive and cold and wet. With polymerSNOW your kids stay warm and dry.

Hollywood special effects people use artificial snow polymer products like polymerSNOW to create drifts and the illusion of falling or blowing snow. The polymerSNOW can be applied through blowing machines. (They also sometimes use snow blankets to cover landscape on film sets.) There are many uses for the artificial snow you can create from our polymerSNOW.

Instructions

Mix a Test Batch First: Add one level tablespoon of polymerSNOW to a 1 quart bowl. Add one 8 oz. cup of warm tap water to the bowl and watch the SNOW GROW! Instant snow right in front of you.

For Large Quantities: We suggest getting a large tub or clean trash can. Work in batches of 1 cup : 1 gallon of water ratios. A one-pound bag of polymerSNOW + 6 gallons of water yields 12 gallons of instant snow!

polymerSNOW can also be sprinkled on the ground and lightly misted with water.   Apply water until visible expansion stops.

1 lbs yields 12-13 gallons of SNOW with coverage** of 20–23 ft² (at 1” depth)
5 lbs yields 60-65 gallons of SNOW with coverage of 110–120 ft² (at 1” depth)
10 lbs yields 120-130 gallons of SNOW with coverage of 220–240 ft² (at 1” depth)
25 lbs yields 300-325 gallons of SNOW with coverage of 550 – 600 ft²  (at 1” depth)
50 lbs yields 600-650 gallons of SNOW with coverage of 1100–1200 ft² (at 1” depth)
100 lbs yields 1200-1300 gallons of SNOW with coverage of 2200 – 2400 ft² (at 1” depth)
** SNOW expansion varies depending on the purity and the hardness of water being used!
Deionized or distilled water will produce greater volume expansion than hard water.

Uses

Put artificial snow around the Christmas tree or around window sills.

Use fake snow in trade show booths or anytime you wish to create a winter wonderland theme

Both Hollywood professionals and amateurs in schools have used polymerSNOW to create the magic of winter (without the cold!) in production sets

Many flea market sellers repackage the product to sell for crafts.  Use artificial snow around your model train set
